What to Bring, What Not to Bring

The Healing Lodge has a structured environment with expectations to keep all adolescents safe.

Please follow the expectations regarding what to bring and what not to bring for an adolescent’s stay.

Personal Care Items Are Provided by the Healing Lodge.

Do NOT Bring

shampoo
conditioner
lotion
lip balm
body wash
deodorant
dental floss
toothbrush
fingernail clippers
mouth wash
toothpaste
razors
shaving cream

Plan to Bring

Clothing appropriate to the seasonal weather of the resident’s stay
T-shirts, shorts, jeans/denim, athletic wear, and athletic shoes for working out/physical activity (seven days worth)
Swimsuit or swimming shorts – used for sweat ceremony and offsite swimming year round
Socks (seven pairs total)
Underwear (seven total)
Appropriate nighttime sleepwear
Slippers
Jacket
Shoes (two pairs. One should be tennis or running shoes)
For colder seasons, bring weather-appropriate outerwear, a warm coat, gloves, boots

Notebooks (no spirals)
Pencils (regular and colored)
Playing cards
Coloring books

Items Not Allowed

Hygiene products – the Healing Lodge supplies all hygiene products
Electronic devices
Cassette tapes, CDs, DVDs
Make-up, nail polish, nail polish remover
Food, gum, candy, beverages, etc. – the Healing Lodge supplies all meals and snacks
Metal cans, ropes, sharp objects like needles, tacks, pins, staples, etc.
Ink pens, glue, toxic marker pens, calligraphy pens, bottled ink
Condoms
Baseball caps/hats
Magazines (books available on approval only)
Razor blades, disposable blades
Personal blankets, pillows and/or stuffed animals, etc.
Jewelry (watches, necklaces, chains, rings, bracelets)
If you have a tongue/nose/ear piercing, only bring what you are wearing

We strongly discourage youth from bringing any item that is of significant value. The Healing Lodge is not responsible for lost, stolen, or destroyed items.
